Civic Education 2011-12
 
Objectives
  1. To arouse students’ civic awareness and rights.
  2. To nurture students’ civic duties and responsibilities.
  3. To cultivate students’ positive attitudes and values conductive to the development of a sense of belonging to Hong Kong and China so that they are ready to contribute to the betterment of society, the state and the world.
  4. To develop students’ critical thinking dispositions and problem-solving skills that would allow them to analyze social and political issues objectively and to give a rational appraisal of these issues.

Implementation Plan

1) Lunch-time forum

  • Lunch-time forums would be held to discuss current issues. Floor speakers would be invited and it is a co-curricular activity with English Department.

2) Talks at Hall Assembly

  • Talks would be held in school during Assembly. Students are invited to share their views on designated topics in relation to civic education.

3) Participation in “City Forum”

  • A group of senior form students will be selected to join the “City Forum” held by Hong Kong Radio.

4) Top Ten News Election of the year 2011

Students are invited to select ten big news in 2011 from a list of headlines.
