Objectives
  1. To arouse students’ interest in learning from errors in the past;
  2. To let students know some famous and some notorious people’s real stories in history;
  3. To promote an appreciation of the uniqueness of different culture from different civilizations;
  4. To introduce major historical events that shaped the modern world to students and let them learn lessons from the past;
  5. To enhance students’ social awareness and civic consciousness;
  6. To let students grasp the skills of presenting arguments in an organized way.

Implementation

  • DIY famous people’s booklet
  • Biography of the famous and the notorious to let students know each person’s influence, whether good or bad, counts very much on one’s ethics and remains to be judged by anyone in the forthcoming days
  • Interesting stories to be told to arouse interests
  • Regular essay-writing practice to be carried out
  • Techniques downward shifting: Essay writing skills

Intended Outcome

  • Students can find history interesting and go to cultivate reading habits in related discipline.
  • Students can raise questions during lessons.
  • Students can write essays with proper framework and topic sentences.

Success Criteria     

  • 80% of students can get a pass in tests and exams.
  • 80% of students can get a pass in essays by demonstrating relevancy, topic sentences and writing framework.
