Objectives
  • To enable students to communicate with others in French confidently and clearly.
  • To develop insight into the French culture and civilization.
  • To develop thinking skills through a range of activities in the French language.

The growing knowledge and understanding of how language works and the development of language learning strategies lay the foundation for future study and study of other languages.

The acquisition of a new language consolidates and supports the development of communication in English Language and Chinese Language.

Students appreciate that the ability to understand and communicate in another language is a lifelong skill for learning, leisure and employment in Hong Kong and throughout the world.

The objectives stated previously aim at preparing students for the Cambridge International AS Level, theworld’s largest provider of international qualification (16-19 years)

Implementation Plan

Major concerns

To well implement NSS curriculum and get good achievements in double cohort year.

  • Starting from junior forms, students get familiar with the requirements of the AS Cambridge examination in French.
  • Regular quizzes, after class tutorials
  • Senior forms: speaking workshops where students are in charge of their oral presentation ( videotape to evaluate their own performance)
  • Senior forms: writing compositions involving critical thinking and cultural insights into French speaking countries

To promote sunshine and caring school ethos and instill positive, energetic and dynamic school atmosphere.

  • To raise students’ sense of positiveness.
  • Learning language contributes to positive and social education through awareness of other cultures and ways of life.
  • To promote pair/group work to enhance communication skills and empathy
  • To create a warm and lively learning environment

Co-curricular Activities

Bulletin Board Decoration at French Corner

  • Students will take turns to decorate the bulletin board twice a year.

Christmas Celebration

  • Junior forms will enjoy a series of activities regarding Christmas customs and tradition in French speaking countries

French Week

  • Food tasting, quizzes, games, food workshop in the cookery room, movies

Le French May

  • This is an annual festival of French culture in which students could have a taste of French Art as well as experiencing French culture through various activities.

External Competitions

  • A variety of external competitions will be offered to students: speech and singing contests, dictation etc. – with the support of the HK & Macau Association of teachers of French and the French Consulate.

French Workshops

  • External professionals such as comedians and poets will be invited to conduct workshops on drama or creative writing (one/half day sessions)

French Corner

  • A warm and lively learning environment promoting cultures and civilization of the French speaking countries – language and cultural prompts and displays.
