Objectives

Form 1 to 3:
The course aims at

  • developing students’ basic understanding of economics – with special emphasis on Hong Kong conditions and problems.
  • nurturing students’ interest in studying Economics.
  • conveying students’ knowledge and understanding of fundamental economic concepts.
  • applying Economic concepts to their daily life examples.
  • equipping students with an ability to use basic tools for economic analysis.
  • cultivating students’ critical thinking skills and creativity. 

NSS1 to NSS3:
The course aims at

  • developing students’ basic understanding of economics – with special emphasis on Hong Kong conditions and problems.

  • cultivating students’ critical thinking skills and creativity.

  • equipping students with skills in analyzing simple economic problems.
  • equipping students with an ability to integrate various economic concepts contained in the syllabus.
  • equipping students’ with an ability to present ideas clearly, and in a well-reasoned manner, illustrating answers with simple diagrams.
  • helping students to achieve good academic results in HKDSE. 

Form 7:
The course aims at

  • developing the economic way of thinking and enhancing the abilities to make sense out of economic phenomena and to make effective decisions about economic issues.
  • developing candidates' analytic abilities to recognize the merits and limitations of economic theory, and emphasis should be given to their ability to apply their knowledge of economic analysis to practical problems.
  • helping students to achieve good academic results in HKALE.
  • cultivating students’ critical thinking skills and creativity.
  • applying Economic concepts to their daily life examples.

A.    Devise enhancement and remedial program to develop students’ abilities and try to cultivate 

self-learning atmosphere among students. 

  • Students are divided into different groups according to their learning abilities, and then be arranged to attend enhancement or remedial class
  • Tailor-made materials are prepared for high achievers and low achievers
  • Reference book lists and exercise book lists are given to students

 

  • Low achievers make great improvement
  • Low achievers get confidence in the subject
  • High flyers develop an interest in studying the subject  
  • High flyers get C or above in public examination
  • 70% of low achievers pass the tests and examinations
  • Students can correctly answer 90% of questions in assignment
  • The average marks of high achievers is over 80
