1. Objectives
  • Aims
  • To provide students with fundamental business knowledge and skills, and develop their positive values and attitudes, so that they can fulfill their roles competently and confidently as consumers, investors, employees and entrepreneurs
  • To develop students’ generic skills in research, analysis, leadership, team-building, communication, critical thinking and problem solving
  • To explore different aspects of business to prepare students for life, for learning and for employment
  • Objectives
  • To develop knowledge and understanding of:

(a) the intertwined relationships of different business areas
(b) the dynamic environment in which businesses operate, where changes influence planning and decision-making
(c) the importance of accounting in managing a business
(d) the functions of management in formulating effective strategies for businesses
(e) the importance of managing personal finance

  • To develop generic skills to:

(a)  use information technology to locate, select, and organise relevant business information for decision-making
(b)  investigate, analyse, and evaluate business issues from a variety of perspectives
(c)  communicate business information and issues effectively
(d)  work in a team situation and assume a leadership role

  • To develop positive values and attitudes so that students can:

(a)  be informed, active and responsible participants in the business world
(b)  be critically aware of the importance of socially responsible and ethical business behaviour
(c)  behave responsibly in controlling their personal finances


 
 
 
2. Implementation Plan
  • To well implement NSS curriculum and get good achievements in double cohort year:
  • Quiz and chapter revision test will take place at least once a cycle to check students’ learning progress and for consolidation purpose
  • Teachers will identify high achievers and slow learners to cater for students’ learning diversity
  • Remedial classes will be provided to students with lower ability to strengthen their foundation and keep up with the teaching schedule
  • Elite study group will be set up to further enhance high achievers’ standard with more challenging questions and exam technique enhancement
  • High achievers will be recommended to take part in external accounting exams (e.g. LCCI and HKIAAT) to obtain professional recognition and enhance exam experience
  • To further cultivate effective teaching and active learning in curriculum development:
  • Teachers will identify students’ learning diversity and understand their strengths and weaknesses so that remedial and enhancement programs can be set up to cater for students’ individual needs
  • Pre-lesson work will be assigned to students and students will be encouraged to prepare for their own notes
  • Students will be required to develop their own revision notes and draw up summary and mind maps for each chapter
  • To promote sunshine and caring school ethos, and instill positive, energetic and dynamic school atmosphere:
  • Students will participate in the Guidance Week by designing and selling merchandise to promote sunshine and caring school ethos
  • Students will lead the whole process from designing merchandise, ordering stock to selling merchandise and putting what they have learned from the course into practice
  • To further enrich EMI school environment:
  • Teachers will strictly adopt the EMI policy by using English as the medium of instruction
  • Teachers will raise more questions and request students to respond in English in complete sentences so that students have more opportunities to express their opinions in English
  • Teachers will encourage students to use English in asking questions beyond normal lessons
  • Assignment Policy
  • Classwork will be done during lesson as demonstration and consolidation of subject knowledge
  • Two pieces of homework will be assigned to students each week. They need to do correction will be done right after the marking of assignments
  • Quiz will take place at least once a cycle to check students’ learning progress. Approximately two to three quizzes will be conducted for each topic in evaluating students’ understanding
  • Chapter revision test will be implemented for Form 5 and 6 students to revisit and consolidate what they have learned previously
  • Students need to complete workbooks provided by publishers on various topics to strengthen their foundation
  • Drilling exercises will be extracted from HKCEE, HKALE, LCCI and HKIAAT past papers so that students will be familiarised with and well equipped with the public exam format
  • Challenging questions will be provided to groom high achievers while extra consolidation exercises will be offered to slow learners for patching up purpose
  • Remedial and Enhancement Policy
  • Enhancement and remedial classes will be held once a week after school and selected students have to join the classes compulsorily
  • An elite study group will be set up to groom high achievers with more challenging questions and exam technique enhancement
  • High achievers taking part in LCCI and HKIAAT exams will be given supplementary lessons for drilling and bridging work
  • Co-Curricular Activities
  • Seminars on the career prospective will be held during the year so as to give students a clear picture of the career path of an accountant
  • During the Guidance Week, Form 5 students will work on a group project to design and sell merchandise through application of accounting and finance knowledge acquired throughout the course
