Co-Curricular Activities 0708
the academic year 2007-2008, our Business Studies panel has organized
various co-curricular activities for our commerce stream students.
Our Form 6 students have joined the Company Program launched by Junior
Achievement. Under the guidance of some volunteer business advisers, students
formed a mini-corporation and operated a company as they would in the
real world. They elected officers, developed business plans, sold stock,
produced and marketed real products or services, kept records, conducted
stockholders' meetings, and liquidated the company in around 18 weeks.
The participating students could also have an opportunity to experience
a real marketplace by selling their products or services in the "Company
Programme Trade Fair" held at the ground plaza of HSBC Main Building in
Central on 15th December 2007. Our company, Wonderful Ornaments Wanted
(WOW), got a satisfactory performance with $6723.3 as the total sales
revenue. Each share is entitled with $46.58 as the share of profit, in
addition to the par value of $50 per share (93% of return on capital).
Job Shadowing Day at Inland Revenue
20 Form 6 and Form 7 students joined the Job Shadowing Day organized by
Junior Achievement Hong Kong. Job shadowing is a partnership between the
classroom and the workplace, dedicating to giving kids an up-close look
at the world of work. Participating students were given an opportunity
to "shadow" a workplace mentor as he or she wet through a normal day on
the job. The 20 students had this job shadow experience at the Inland
Revenue Department from 17th to 21st December 2007.
Lunar New Year Retail Project
A Lunar New Year Retail Project was held in February for Form 6 students
in order to enhance their critical thinking skills and creativity. It
enables students to apply business concepts to the reality e.g. purchasing,
budgeting, marketing, management etc. and also enhances students’ creativity
to run a business from scratch.
