School Annual Concert – Summer Rhapsody 2006 was held successfully
at Jockey Club Auditorium in Hong Kong Polytechnic University
on 20 July 2006. It was a memorable night which demonstrated students'
talents and hard work.
The Summer Rhapsody has become one of the important
events for the school which features students’ talents and harvest
of preserving practice and sustained effort. In that night, the
auditorium was filled with many guests as well as parents and
students. The choir has captured everyone’s soul with dazzling
voices and sweet melodies. The music ensemble was not far behind.
The melodies of the music will linger in the ears of the audience
for a long time. The spectacular shows, including rope skipping,
African drum and dancing, were stunning. The concert came to an
end in thunderous applause.
“Performing in front of thousands audience was
a treasured moment in my life. Standing on the stage, I seemed
like forgetting everything.” said Timothy Lam Kam Yuet, a student
from 3A. “This is my second year performing in the annual concert,
the feeling was much stronger than last year. I used to be nervous
but now I learnt to stay calm. I wish to strive for perfection
Another performer Heidi Lam Tsz Wah, who took
part in different performances in the annual concert, including
jazz dance, African drum, handchimes and dancing part for the
choir, said although she has ample stage experience, she treats
the annual concert as a valuable experience for her. “Summer Rhapsody
is a special event in which we are given chances to demonstrate
our potential and effort. Unlike other school events, the concerted
effort of both teachers and students had played a crucial role
in this achievement. I am proud to perform for my school. I wish
I could participate in this event in the coming years.”
Po Leung Kuk Ngan Po Ling College has devoted
ample resources in extra-curricular activities in order to cultivate
students’ interest in non-academic aspects. This annual concert
has clearly demonstrated they value aesthetic education, which
they believe, nurtures beauty in mind, inculcates fervor, inspires
creativity and enhances emotional intelligence. The enthusiasm
from everybody had made the experience much more meaningful than
just an entertaining performance. The School has received many
congratulatory messages from audience and a wonderful performance
is expected in the coming years.
